When a user receives any message from any service provider, sender ID along with a prefix is displayed in your message inbox. For eg. VK-INFINI, DM-HRINFI, BW-AMAZON, VM-MYNTRA etc.

The prefixes VK, DM, BW etc. are generally displayed are associated with Telecom Operator codes. We follow rules framed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and according to TRAI rules,

  • Sender ID should be restricted to 6 characters. (E.g VK – INFINI)
  • The prefix has a specific meaning. That is:
    • The first character of prefix defines the Operator:
